As I type this, the sixth (and maybe the last) episode of the BBC television series SHERLOCK is airing in Britain. Co-created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, SHERLOCK stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Doctor John Watson, who recently won a BAFTA for the role. It might sound familiar — Sherlock is a consulting detective, John is an army doctor and Moriarty is never far from 221B Baker Street — but SHERLOCK is, hands down, some of the best television you will ever watch.

The second series premiered two weeks ago with its first of three episodes, “A Scandal in Belgravia”. This episode is an hour and a half of gorgeous storytelling and went beyond everyone’s expectations, even trumping the pilot episode “A Study In Pink” from the previous season. “Belgravia” was followed by “The Hounds of Baskerville” which was a humorous/affectionate/terrifying intake of air before the inevitable showdown between our favourite consulting detective, his blogger and their scheming nemesis Moriarty. Tonight on BBC1, we have “The Reichenbach Fall” which, of course, is based on Arthur Conan Doyle’s last Sherlock Holmes story The Final Problem. If you’ve read this story, you can understand why I’m already crying a waterfall of tears. #Reichenbaccchhh

Not long now! Remember it's just a TV show. Only the emotional damage is real. #Sherlock
